ch-ch-changes

It has been a few hectic weeks with packing, unpacking, exploring and working.

In spite of hours of sorting, tossing, donating and re-giving, our apartment is still full of "stuff." For the first time, I seriously purged my closet of anything that didn't fit to a T or if I had not worn it in a year. I also donated handbags, books, cooking supplies and shoes to Goodwill. Good for whoever gets to buy them at reduced price and good for me with a much needed tax break.

The move took some time and was stressful. However, I learned a lot from the experience as an individual and as part of a couple. This was my first move with a paramour and actually my first shared move with anyone!

Partners in crime do not always see eye to eye. There were some heated discussions, tears and even the occasional hard word. However, we got through it.

As the soreness left our limbs and the bruises faded from our arms, we were both able to come to our table and share what we learned. We learned to appreciate the method to each other's madness. Now we are both enjoying the unpacking and creating a home together so much more! We have become better listeners because we understand that we have our own history and ideas and vision of, "Home."

I look forward to sharing the pictures!

joy of spring

Last of the meat in the Meat Packing District

Yesterday was the first real spring Saturday in the city. The sun is out longer, the temperature is rising and green is starting to pop up all around. It's wonderful to see everyone come out of hibernation and flood the parks, cafes, balconies and basically any available outdoor space. This winter seemed especially long with lots of snow (22" just 3 weeks ago), excessive wind (near hurricane weather last weekend) and the general doldrums associated with arriving at and leaving work in the dark.
To document my second favorite season, I grabbed my camera, sunscreen and hit the west side. I am still learning a lot about photography and my camera so I am not quite as fast as I would like to be but I hope practice makes perfect. Until then, enjoy these imperfect works of wonder.

After wandering the Chelsea Market and the West Village, grabbed an afternoon burger and returned home to listen to records on the balcony in the sunshine. As I caught up on crosswords, I realized how much I am looking forward to this spring.
